“New Muralism: Inclusive Visions of Self and Place”

CHANNING PEAKE GALLERY: The exhibition features artwork from six artists who work out of Slingshot / Alpha Art Studio, a progressive art center that supports artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Santa Barbara County. Ten mural-scale works rendered from the artists’ original work to the size of the gallery panels create an immersive gallery experience.

Mediums include paintings, digital drawings, mixed media & photography.

Roland Petersen, “San Francisco Rooftops”

“Roland petersen: a bridge between generations”

CITY HALL GALLERY: This exhibition pulls together more than seventy years of the career of Danish-American painter Roland Petersen, beginning with Hoffman-influenced abstraction, through his breakthrough “Picnic” series inspired by UC Davis’ Picnic Day. Petersen played a prominent role in the mid-20th Century Bay Area Figurative Movement as one of the “Bridge Generation” artists and synthesized gestural abstract expressionism, painterly realism, and advanced color theory to create vivid and imaginative renditions of California’s land and cityscapes and its people.
